Breaking Stereotypes
and inspiring youth
In-school sewing programs that focus on mentorship, confidence, inclusion, and equity.
Roland co-founded a specialty in-school program unlike anything that’s ever been seen — a dynamic, engaging sewing workshop that breaks the creative mold, smashes stereotypes, and inspires and uplifts kids, all while teaching a valuable life skill and bringing back a lost art.
The Sewing Studio is an in-school program, run as a school-wide initiative (everyone participates) in elementary schools, high schools, and private schools across the Greater Toronto Area. Here’s how it works:
We bring 15 to 30 sewing machines and our all-star team to your school, and we set up a creative maker space in your library, gym, or available classroom.
Students (from kindergarten all the way up!) learn how to sew using a sewing machine, and each student completes a fun, personalized project from start to finish.
Our team of stereotype-busting mentors guides each student through success, working on a 1-to-5 ratio, providing a dynamic, engaging, hands-on experience for the entire school.
Students gain confidence, develop their growth mindset, and complete their very own customized project, all while being motivated, uplifted, and inspired!
Not only is sewing a practical life skill, it’s all-inclusive, gets kids hands-on, and helps kids flex their creative muscles. Added bonus: Sewing also leaves kids feeling joyful, mindful, and focused!
